Sync with iCloud From Safari

Safari is your web browser by default on your MacBook. When iCloud syncing is turned on, Safari is supposed to sync your tabs, history and everything with your other Apple devices. However, this may not happen all the time. If Safari history and settings on your Mac are not syncing over to iCloud, then you can manually force the syncing process.

To sync Safari with iCloud, first of all you will have to enable the hidden debug menu in Safari.

Here is how:

  1. Quit Safari in OS X : Use the shortcut key Command + Q on your keyboard to close the program quickly. or go to Safari > Quit Safari.
  2. Open Terminal : Press the shortcut key Command + Spacebar and then search for “terminal” or go to Applications > Utilities Folder instead,
  3. Type the command just like shown in here : defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeInternalDebugMenu 1
  4. Press Enter.
  5. Relaunch Safari : Now you can see the new debug menu in Safari.
  6. Click on Debug. Then click on Sync iCloud History.

This will manually force a sync of your Safari history to your other Apple devices over iCloud. This setting in the Mac app will make sure recently visited webpages will also be accessible from your iPad or iPhone.
