How To Use iCloud for Android Devices ?

iCloud is a cloud computing service which is provided by Apple Inc. You can use iCloud on your Apple devices. But can you use iCloud for android devices? You may think that it cannot be done at all. But iCloud is available for Windows PC and even on Android device.

Users have been accessing iCloud for Android devices using many tricks since the iCloud is launched.


How to Use iCloud for Android

Good news is that if you own another Apple device, you’ll get 5GB of free storage for iCloud. If not, don’t worry, you can access their storage plans (for a price).

I will be assuming that your Android phone supports CalDAV and CardDav protocols. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Find out the iCloud server hosting your account
    • Go to “Calendar”
    • Click on the sharing icons
    • Select ‘Public Calendar’
    • This will re-direct you to webcal://
    • Remember that pXX is the server number – it could be P01, P22, etc
  2. Set up Email
    • Using your Android phone, go to your email client
    • Create a new IMAP account
    • Type in your email address, but use your Apple ID as the username and your iCloud password as the password
    • Enter the server number that is mentioned in step-1  where you see the server URL (
  3. Sync Contacts
    • Go to your contacts settings
    • Type “” as the contacts server
    • Select ‘Use SSL’
    • Enter your iCloud username as the username and your iCloud password as the password
  4. Sync Calendars
    • Go to your calendar settings in the calendar app
    • Enter “” as the calendar server
    • Select ‘Use SSL’
    • Type in your iCloud username and iCloud password on the username and password field respectively, as in step 3.

These are the steps that you need to follow carefully if you want to use iCloud for android device.

iCloud Find – Locate Your Device

Lost your Apple device? No problem. iCloud Find feature lets you track down your lost or misplaced device from anywhere you want. If you have misplaced or lost your device, then first make sure that Find My Phone is set up on the device that you want to locate. Another thing is the iOS device has to be in online, connected to WiFi or awake.

After you make sure that those two things are checked, then you can use iCloud find feature. If you have iCloud Family Sharing setup, then you can even locate a family member’s device. So how to use iCloud find feature from your desktop, laptop or Mac?

  1. From your web browser, go to the web address
  2. Now log in to your iCloud account.
  3. Click on Find iPhone icon.
  4. Click All Devices from the top of the page. The green dot on the side means the device’s online. You can see the latest time it was located, if you can locate the device. If more than one device is connected with the same iCloud account, then you can see the list of devices in the drop-down menu.
  5. A grey dot means it’s offline. However if it was recently online, you can see the last online time. If it has been 24 hours offline, you see “Offline”.
  6. Choose the device that you want to locate. If the device is online, you can see the exact location on the map. If iCloud Find can’t track your device, select “Notify me when found” to get an email when it appears online.
  7. You can see the battery status of your online phone. You can even play sound even if it’s on silent if your phone is nearby. You can zoom in, zoom out, drag the map and update the map by clicking on refresh icon. Change the map view from satellite, standard and hybrid from the rightmost bottom of the map.
  8. Lost Mode will help you enter an optional number. This number will be shown to your lost iPhone so that if anyone finds your phone, then you can call you can give your phone back if they are HONEST.
  9. Erase iPhone is important if your iPhone is lost and you have important data on your iPhone. All your content and settings will be deleted.

What is iCloud Backup ?

iCloud is a cloud storage and cloud computing service which is provided by Apple Inc. iCloud is an online backup service which is written in Javascript. iCloud backup comes with an initial storage of 5GB. Apple users can store all the files, photos, videos, contacts and all other things in their iCloud backup.

What is iCloud Backup?

iCloud backup lets users to back up the settings and data on their iOS devices (iPhone, iPad , etc) running iOS 5 or later. Data backed up includes photos and videos in the Camera Roll, device settings, app data, messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS), ringtones, and Visual Voicemails. Backup are created and saved in the cloud whenever your device is locked and connected to WiFi and power backup. If you happen to lost all your data on your Apple device by chance, then you can restore all the data from the iCloud backup if your device was synced to iCloud.
